Arrival and Fasting Times:
If you are having your surgery at St Vincent’s Private Hospital or St Vincent’s Private Day Surgery you will receive a phone call from the nurse the day prior to your surgery to confirm arrival and fasting details. Please ensure that you have completed the pre admission forms and have sent these into the hospital ahead of time.

Medications:
Some medications, including natural therapies (especially Chinese herbs) must be stopped prior to a procedure as they may cause thinning of the blood which can lead to bleeding. We have attached a list of examples below to help you. If you are unsure about your medications please contact us on (02) 8382 6090.

Fees:
When planning for surgery at a Private Hospital there are three main costs to consider: Your Surgeon, Anaesthetist and Private Hospital.
Dr Bova’s fee: You will be provided with a written estimate of fees prior to your surgery. Payment is requested prior to your procedure taking place. We will claim through your Medicare and Private Health Insurance on your behalf so you may receive their associated rebates following your procedure.
Anaesthetist’s Fee: The anaesthetist will charge a separate fee based on the length of time they spend with you during your surgery. Each anaesthetist sets and charges their own fee, which is separate from Dr Bova’s fees.
Hospital Fee: If you have private Health Insurance your health fund will cover your Accommodation and Theatre costs at St Vincent’s Private dependant on your level of cover. You may have an excess or co-payment on your policy and if so the hospital will charge this on admission. We recommend you contact your health fund to check that you are covered for your surgery.
If you are planning to attend a private hospital as an uninsured patient, please be aware that additional fees may apply. These fees will depend on the type of surgery Dr Bova recommends. Please note we do not provide quotes prior to an initial consultation with Dr Bova.
Post op:
Please give us a call on (02) 8382 6090 to book your post op appointment. Post op appointments are included in your surgery fee.
If you have any concerns following your surgery Dr Bova can be contacted in his rooms during business hours. (Between 9am-5pm – Monday to Friday).
After hours he or his registrar can be contacted through St Vincent’s Public Hospital by phoning (02) 8382 1111.
